When in December 2023, I got the invite to take my spoken word poetry to New Zealand for their March 2024 WOMAD event, I was beyond ecstatic. Of course, I had no idea where I would obtain the funds for such a trip. Still, I couldn’t wait – until my pro-Palestine stance changed it everything.
